UnfoldEast ("we," "us," "our") publishes slow travel stories and city guides for Asia. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit unfoldeast.com, use our contact form, or subscribe to our newsletter — and what we do (and don't do) with it.

We keep this simple on purpose: we're a small editorial team, not an ad network, and we're not in the business of collecting more than we need.

Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to give us:

• Contact form. When you send us a message, we receive your name, email address, the topic you selected, and your message.
• Newsletter signup. When you subscribe, we receive your email address.
• Basic site analytics. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools may automatically log standard technical data — pages visited, approximate location, device/browser type — used only in aggregate to understand what content is useful.

We do not ask for, and you should never need to give us, payment details, government ID numbers, or other sensitive personal information through this site.

How We Use It

We use the information above only to:

• Reply to messages sent through the contact form
• Send the newsletter to people who've subscribed to it, and nothing else
• Understand which stories and guides are actually useful, so we can write more of what helps and less of what doesn't

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

A few outside services help this site run. Each only sees the minimum needed to do its job:

• Web3Forms. Powers our contact and newsletter forms, and delivers submissions to our inbox without publishing your email anywhere on the site.
• Google Fonts. We load typefaces (Fraunces, Source Serif 4, JetBrains Mono) from Google's font service, which may log basic request data like IP address as part of standard font delivery.
• Our hosting provider. Like any website, our host processes standard server logs to keep the site running and secure.

We choose these services for what they let us avoid — namely, not running our own tracking infrastructure.

Cookies

We use only the minimal cookies needed for the site to function properly (for example, remembering your cookie preference itself). We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or sell your browsing behavior to ad networks — UnfoldEast doesn't run third-party ads.

Data Retention

We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward for our own records. Newsletter email addresses are kept for as long as you stay subscribed — unsubscribing removes you from future sends.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent (such as unsubscribing from the newsletter) at any time. To exercise any of these, just reach out through our contact page — we'll handle it directly, no forms within forms.

Children's Privacy

UnfoldEast is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country).

Changes To This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
